Philknot Snoezelen

What is Snoezelen？


First introduced in the 1970s in the Netherlands, it focuses on relaxation and sensory experiences in a comforting space.

In Europe and the United States, it's been adopted for recreation, therapy, and education. It can be found in places such as institutions for the disabled, schools, hospitals and public spaces.

It's not just about relaxation; it's also known for its calming effect. In Japan, it has gained popularity as a sensory experience.

Our Snoezelen products can be repaired even if the products has broken, so you would be able to use them for a long time.

We will provide a repairing cost quotation after checking the actual product. Please feel free to ask for a quotation, as there is no charge.

It may be possible to repair Snoezelen products made by other companies. If you have any problems, please feel free to contact us.

Our vision

For over 30 years, Philknot has been creating glowing costumes, equipment, and lights for night parades and concerts.

After learning about Snoezelen, we wondered if we could use the technology and know-how from our work in decorative costumes to create more portable Snoezelen equipment. We're developing the equipment from 2019 with Professor Mine from Toyo University's Department of Human Environmental Design, Faculty of Social Welfare and Social Design.

We're developing snooze equipment for any space: bedrooms, living rooms, hallways, hospitals.

Kushiro Welfare Association's children's facility “Forest of Sound and Light Lumine”, the first facility in Japan to specialize in Snoezelen, opened in 2021.
This facility provides Snoezlen as a child development support and after-school day care service.
There are two gelatinous white rooms and a black room. These rooms stimulate the senses with multiple senses of light, sound and smell. This provides a relaxing space.
They also post ideas for handmade snoezelen goods that are practised daily on SNS.
They use a Philknot Snoezelen movement-synchronized wristbands.
